Lecco is the treasure chest of history that has passed through it, every epoch has brought with it constructions and destruction, but still today the medieval tower in Piazza XX Settembre, known as Torre Viscontea, is still visible and in excellent condition part of the walls, the so-called wall wall.
The historic center that extends parallel to the lake shore offers 19th century architecture, clearly visible in the portico that characterizes Piazza XX Settembre and some buildings in the center. The emblem of the neoclassical style is the Teatro della Società in Piazza Garibaldi, designed by Giuseppe Bovara, architect from Lecco.
Streets and alleys of the center branch off from the central squares, characterized by the presence of fashion shops and family residences. To open and close the historical center two squares that distinguish Lecco in a different way. On the left and clearly visible, because overlooking the lake, we have Piazza Cermenati, with the monument dedicated to Mario Cermenati, behind which we find the staircase that leads us to the Basilica of San Nicolò and the Bell Tower, which you can visit to climb to the top at its 96 meters and see Lecco from above.
At the other extreme, at the end of the central Via Roma, the monument to Alessandro Manzoni, the one who made Lecco famous with his literary masterpiece, in fact we can well say that Lecco is also the city of the Betrothed.

The territory of Lecco offers hiking and trekking routes for all kinds and ages. Its mountains crossed by countless paths open unmissable scenarios on Lake Como and the chains of the Orobie Prealps.
